Kanthas

Originating from the Bengal region of Bangladesh and West Bengal, India, kanthas are among the world's oldest quilting traditions. Made by layering soft cotton fabrics and hand-stitching them together using a simple running stitch, each kantha develops its signature rippled, textured surface through thousands of individual stitches. Traditionally crafted by women in their homes from recycled saris, kanthas were everyday essentials blankets, wraps, and swaddling cloth for newborns.
