Daal Bhaat Quilt
In Bangla, 'daal' and 'bhaat' evoke the most basic needs — lentil (soup) and rice, the staple food of the delta. This patchwork quilt style takes its name from that everyday staple: a traditional style women have long made from their old saris for personal use, including for newborns during the harsh northern Bangladesh winter. Made using fresh 'saree' and 'gaamccha' fabric — gaamccha being square patches of bright, hand-woven cloth also used as scarves and towels. Three layers of cotton, hand quilted using the traditional 'lohori', 'jor' and 'bejor' techniques, and locked on the edges by a signature hand-stitched selvedge.

Shibori Quilt 001
The indigo shibori quilts are a marriage of traditions and cultures, yet contemporary. The cotton fabric, from traditional weaving communities in the southern district of Comilla, goes through the highly skilled 'nui shibori' process — a traditional Japanese resist-stitching technique — done by our shibori artisans. Four layers of cotton fabric are then hand quilted meticulously using the traditional 'lohori' quilting technique, in 'jore' and 'bejore' patterns, and locked on the edges by a signature hand-stitched selvedge. These textiles contain natural, living colours that bleed and fade with time.

White Katha 001
Also fondly known as 'WoW' — White on White. These are not dyed, nor do they carry work of shibori; instead they are a canvas of quilting as art, where the master artisan gives her very best time, energy and skill. Even when a pattern is repeated, each piece is still different. Five layers of cotton fabric, master quilted for weeks and months, from hand-loom weavers in the southern district of Comilla. All quilted in 'lohori' wave patterns, with named styles including 'jore', 'bejore', 'aatpataa', 'kolikata', 'moyurer pakha', 'ball', 'chowarighor', 'puti maacher jhaak' and 'boshotbari'. Some are left plain white; others are ornamented with sleek edge detailing in coloured thread, or tell simple folk-motif stories of rural Bangladeshi life. Locked on the edges by a signature hand-stitched selvedge.
